Azerbaijani Transport Minister Ziya Mamadov, Georgian Minister of Economy and Development George Kvırıkkashvılı, who came to Kars as the guest of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Binali Yıldırım, will attend the first rail laying ceremony on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway. Azerbaijani Transport Minister Mamadov signaled that if Armenia gave up its occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh lands, it could enter the railway project.
Kars Airport ministers of the guest country at the Governor Eyup Hill, Mayor Nevzat Bozkus, AK Party deputy Ahmet Arslan Kars, Turkey Azerbaijan's Consul General Ayhan Suleymanov greeted relevant departments. Azerbaijan Transport Minister Ziya Mamadov emphasized the importance of the BTK railway project and expressed his satisfaction with the regularity of the works. Minister Ziya Mamadov said, “Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project was supported by the presidents of the three countries and laid the foundation for the bypassing of Armenia, which occupied Azerbaijan's Nagorno-Karabakh lands, from the BTK. Since Armenia occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory, it could not participate in the project. Because 1 million of our citizens immigrated because of the occupation. Armenia cannot be included in this project unless it withdraws from Azerbaijani territory. As the Azerbaijani side, we can never allow this. Turkey's Prime Minister, the President will be using the same phrase. If he gives up the occupation, the leaders and governments of the three countries can also lean towards this project of Armenia, ”he said.
Georgian Economy and Development Minister George Kvırıkkashvıl and neighbors as well as with Turkey also reminded that they are friends. Pointing out that the relations are increasing day by day, Kvırıkkashvılı stated that they are pleased with this situation. Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project will have a meeting about, describing Kvırıkkashvıl "This project with Azerbaijan and Georgia, Turkey to open out to Europe. The ministers of the three countries will meet first tomorrow and attend the first rail-laying ceremony near Kars' Mezra Village in the afternoon.
