Ethiopian Railways to Train TCDD
TCDD, which has successfully implemented many big projects in line with the main objectives of high-speed train projects, modernization of the existing system and development of the advanced railway industry, will export its experience to Africa. Ethiopia, one of the African countries, asked TCDD for the first railway line of the country to be opened. TCDD, which responds positively to the demand, will take an active role in the reconstruction of railways in Ethiopia, employee training and technology transfer. Officials from Ethiopia have made various investigations at TCDD.

Ethiopian authorities, which ended the railway operation in 1997, asked TCDD for assistance through the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) for the reorganization of the railroads in the country and the operation of the railway line between the capital Addis Ababa and Djibouti. TCDD, which gave a positive response to the request of the Ethiopian Railways (ERC), welcomed the delegation of Abraham Bekele from ERC Management Support Service and Zewdu Negash from the Legal Consultancy Department on 10 June 2013.

During the day-long meeting, the ERC side expressed support areas for TCDD. Delivering the opening speech of the meeting, Deputy General Manager Ismet Duman, between the two friendly countries Turkey and Ethiopia, he also emphasized that it was pleasing to take part in developing the railways to cooperation in recent years. In the meeting, railway management for ERC personnel, maintenance, business development, project planning, management and monitoring; short-term trainings on the preparation of the legislation and the development of the regulatory framework, as well as the long-term training required for specialization in the railway disciplines. On the second day of the meeting, the delegation, who examined the Train Traffic Management System and the Train Planning System in the Traffic Department, moved to Eskisehir with YHT in the afternoon. The Ethiopian delegation will also visit TÜLOMSAŞ, high-speed railway construction sites, Adapazarı TÜVASAŞ and MARMARAY control centers.
