Aliağa Menderes Commuter System Increases Tourism in Foça

In Foça, one of İzmir's leading tourism centers, work has been initiated to spread tourism throughout the year. Foça Mayor Gökhan Demirağ stated that Foça, which is in a rapid development in tourism, exceeded the 1 million visitor limit last year.

Demirağ said that the Aliağa Menderes Light Rail System started to pass through Biçerova, which is close to the district, and that thanks to the transfer buses from here, the district was flooded with daily visitors, and that this situation also attracted the attention of tourism investors.

Noting that there are facilities with a bed capacity of 3 in Foça and Eski Foça, the number of facilities is increasing gradually, especially the number of boutique hotels has reached 500, Demirağ said: “We support tourism investors to create qualified bed capacity by evaluating historical buildings in our district. There is a lot of demand. There are many groups that are in the research phase. These are very promising developments for the future of tourism in the district. Demirağ also noted that there were problems in the section of the İzmir-Canakkale road to reach the district by road, and argued that until the alternative road projects are put into use, the traffic lights here should be rearranged considering the intensity of the tourism season.
