Tcdd Receives Best Collaboration Award
The quality of the İZBAN Project, which is the largest suburban system in the world with its length, was jointly implemented by TCDD under the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.
İZBAN is in the 'Best Cooperation' category in the competition titled 'Growth with Public Transport' organized by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP), which is the largest organization of the public transportation sector in the world, with more than 3 members. was awarded the first place. This year, 400 projects from 40 countries in 6 categories and 240 projects from our country participated in the competition organized by UITP. İZBAN, which emerged as a product of the joint work of the AK Party Government and the local government in order to offer citizens a fast, comfortable and safe rail public transportation system, was shown as an exemplary project to 18 UITP member countries thanks to this feature.

İZBAN Project was carried out within the scope of the 'Izmir Suburban System Development Union Protocol' signed between TCDD and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality on 26 March 2005. Infrastructure and stations were built and the system was made suitable for suburban operations in subway standards. Turkey's first suburban system from the airport and the passenger demand since it was put into service İZBAN increasing with each passing day, the traffic congestion in Izmir played a role in reducing the north-south line. Construction work continues to extend the project from Cumaovası to Torbalı. İZBAN will be extended to Selçuk in the south and Bergama in the north, reaching 188 kilometers.
