Railways can be operated by the private sector
Turkey's most established transport infrastructure with railways restructured.
The bill passed through the Assembly and became law.

By law, the State Railways of the Republic of Turkey will no longer be authorized to work only for the railway infrastructure management. For business units related to the train, the Republic of Turkey State Railways Transport Joint Stock Company was established.

Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Binali Yıldırım said, “The duty of this newly established company is only to transport. Passenger transport, freight transport… ”he said.

The law also opens railway lines to private companies.

Yildirim, TCDD in addition to the transportation to be established with the company's existing railway lines can make transportation with sufficient conditions, he said.

However, this does not mean a privatization. Thus, besides the State Railways, private companies will also be able to undertake passenger and freight transport.

Yildirim said:
“When using the lines, while transporting on the lines, they will pay money at a specified tariff. Per kilometer."

With the competition, prices will decrease and quality of service will be increased.
The companies will not have the right to use the railway on their own.

Minister Binali Yildirim, not only the lines of the state, the private sector as the lines must be opened in the same way, he added.

Traffic control will continue as a monopoly in the Ministry's control.
