Malatya Mayor Responded to Trambus Criticism

Malatya Mayor Responds to Trambus Criticism: Malatya Mayor Ahmet Çakır stated that the trambus is not an outdated system and said that the system is highly developed and is used in developed cities in Europe.

Çakır responded to the public criticism of the trambus system. Cakir, who made a statement to the journalists about the trambus system after the opening of the North Garage, said, “People can describe it as outdated vehicles because they do not see it. But there is a very advanced system. Whatever he uses in the rail system, that system is also used in the trambus. The vehicles are highly modernized. Beyond the light rail system, modern, vip-quality vehicles are produced. We had a high standard project. We prepared a very detailed project. We will review it once more. But it is not really true to call this system “outdated”.

Cakir, who visited many cities that used the trambus in Europe, noted that they received detailed information about the system and made reviews, said:

“We follow the criticisms about the trambus. We have evaluated all our conditions. When we evaluate the same route today, the amount you will invest in the rail system reaches 150-200 million TL. The system we have prepared now is important in terms of cost and efficient use of resources. In addition, it is able to respond to the passengers we will carry. There is a general criticism, these are normal. We have examined this system in developed cities in Europe. Of course, we did not only get on the vehicles, but we thoroughly examined the system and received information. ”

Çakır stated that there is a proposal regarding the trambus tender and they will evaluate it and said, “We made the tender about the trambus. 6 firms received files, 1 firm offered. We will evaluate that offer. We have not clarified the tender yet. We would expect a fierce competition between 4-5 companies. I think it was probably because we kept the time short. But we have not yet made a decision regarding the tender at the moment, "he said.
