The latest technology for the Bosphorus and FSM bridges

The latest technology on the Bosphorus and FSM bridges. A dehumidification system will be installed on the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges to prevent the ropes from rotting. services will be completed on April 26.

236 rope to be renewed
Due to the 40th anniversary of the Bosphorus Bridge's commissioning, heavy maintenance work will begin after the tender. Major maintenance, repair, structural reinforcement and suspension rope replacement works on the bridge will be completed in 2014.
Under the scope of the mentioned works, the 236 rope will be replaced. The renewed ropes will be able to carry more load and have a longer service life.
State-of-the-art system
The state-of-the-art dehumidification system used in Japan will be installed in the main ropes and anchorage blocks in the bridges of the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet. Dry ropes will be prevented from rotting with the system.
Bosphorus Bridge will not be closed during the daytime hours except during the maintenance and repair works. The edge strips on the ropes side of the bridge will be closed to traffic between the 22.00 and 06.00 hours in terms of life and property security.
