Gokceke did not guarantee the state Ankara subway
Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan said that they do not guarantee Melih Gökçek for Ankara metro.
Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan provided information on Treasury guarantees during the negotiations of the public finance bag law in the Parliamentary Plan Budget Committee.
"We have used the treasury guarantees very carefully in the last 10 years," said Babacan, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek asked for a guarantee for the construction of the Ankara metro, but this was also denied.
While making this decision, Babacan stated that Ankara Metropolitan Municipality took into consideration the risk of reimbursement in financing to be found under the guarantee of the Treasury.
5 PERCENT OF THE WARRANTIES PAID
Babacan said that there was a Treasury burden of around 5 percent on the loans that the Treasury vouched for.
Babacan said that in 2012, a Treasury guarantee of 710 million lira was given, and that the Treasury had to pay only 41 million of this.
MUNICIPALITIES HAS NOT COMPLETED METROLES
The construction works were transferred to the Ministry of Transportation due to the inability of municipalities to complete the Ankara and Istanbul subways.
The Ministry of Transport will leave its business to the municipalities after finishing the subway construction, but 15 percent of the revenues will be transferred to the treasury until the money spent on construction is met.
