National signaling to railways
The Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), TUBITAK-BİLGEM and developed in collaboration with Istanbul Technical University National Railway Signaling has reached the end of the system. The system, which was commissioned at Adapazarı Mithatpaşa Station and has been implemented for 1 year without any problems, will be implemented on the Afyon-Denizli-Isparta line after the approval of the TCDD Board of Directors.
The railway system, which is as important as infrastructure works and rail laying, will be national in the Railways, which has ended its foreign dependence on many issues with the steps it has taken so far and the investments it has made so far.
The National Railway Signalization System, which was developed in cooperation with TCDD, TÜBİTAK-BİLGEM and Istanbul Technical University, in line with the goal of "developing the domestic railway industry" determined at the 2009th Transport Council in 10, will be put into practice in a short time.
The system, which was developed by Turkish engineers and cost 4,6 million lira, was commissioned at Adapazarı Mithatpaşa Station for testing purposes. TCDD, which wants to expand the system that has been working successfully for 1 year, is preparing to implement the domestic signaling system on the Afyon-Denizli-Isparta line, which is 341 kilometers long and includes 32 stations. After being approved by the TCDD Board of Directors, the system will start to be installed on the Afyon-Denizli-Isparta line in a short time. 85 million lira will be spent for the said line to have a domestic signaling system. If this line was awarded to a foreign company, its approximate cost would reach 185 million lira.
EXCLUSION OF OUTSOURCE
In Turkey, only one-third of the 12-thousand-kilometer railway line, in other words, it's about 4 thousand kilometers of line cutting signaling system. In all of the systems used in these lines, 11 different signaling systems produced by foreign companies are used.
This leads to high costs in areas where inter-system integration is required. In addition, the cost of an additional component to be added to existing systems can be very high due to software change. The fact that the companies establishing the signaling systems are located abroad makes the initial investment costs of the systems and the spare parts and material prices high. From time to time, these companies can bill up to half the cost of the installation.
In addition, there is a waste of time in the provision of maintenance and needs. On the other hand, the use of imported signaling system, also constitutes an obstacle to the development of the industry for alarm systems in Turkey.
The system, which was developed in order to eliminate all these problems and eliminate the external dependency in railway signaling, is planned to be applied to the 6 thousand 100 kilometer railway line which is not the signaling system in the first place. If the railway lines in question are built with a local signaling system, about 2 billion pounds will remain in the state's safe.
Aiming to become a major rail base in Turkey, the National Railway Signaling System in addition to initially use their railways to export all over the world including Middle Eastern countries and the Turkish Republic has developed project plans.
