This project aimed to connect the Mediterranean to the Red Sea. When the Suez Canal project came to the agenda, the railway was not extended to the Red Sea, but in 1858 it was extended to Suez and a total of 353 km. happened. This project is the first railway line of the African continent built outside Europe.
