23 December 1888 From the British-origin Ottoman company operating the Haydarpasa-Izmir railway, the railway was requested to be delivered to the State. The company, which did not want to accept this, tried to activate Britain. Britain's intervention was prevented when the Ottoman Empire announced its contacts in British Prime Minister Lodr Salisbury and announced its right in the lease.
