Ankara-Izmir highway distance is about 587 km long and the road passenger transportation is around 8-9 hours. Air travel between Ankara and Izmir is around 3 hours 25 hours including transportation and airport operations and waiting time.

The need to reshape the transportation among the most important cities of our country such as Ankara-İzmir has emerged. In line with this requirement, Ankara Izmir High Speed ​​Train Project has come to the agenda.

This project consists of a route from Yenice Village on the 22 of the Ankara-Konya High-Speed ​​Line to Afyon and a route for the improvement of the existing line reaching to Menemen through the centers of Uşak and Manisa from Afyon. .

If this project is implemented, it is planned to travel between Ankara-Izmir at 1 hour 20 minutes, between 2 hours 30 minutes between Ankara and Afyon and 3 hours 50 minutes between Afyon and Izmir.

The tender was awarded to the Polatlı-Afyon part of the project, which was included in the 2011 investment program.

THE LAST SITUATION IN ANKARA - İZMİR HIGH SPEED TRAIN PROJECT

The tender for the feasibility studies and project works of the Ankara-Afyonkarahisar-Izmir Railway line was made by DLH on 23.08.2004.

Some project revision works have been made on the route between Ankara (Polatlı) and Afyonkarahisar and construction tender has been made and a contract has been signed on 11.06.2012.

Polatlı-Afyon (Under construction): Measures are made at Röper points.
Afyon-Eşme (in the process of the project): The design works are in progress.
Eşme- Salihli (during the project process): 17 has submitted a bid. Commission studies are ongoing.
Salihli-Manisa (during the project process): 17 firm has submitted a bid. Commission studies are ongoing.
