The Qatar Foundation signed a contract worth 11.5 million Euros with Siemens to build and supply the equipment and 100km light rail line that will connect the Doha Metro to the Education City.
The contract includes signaling and communication systems, electrification and warehouse equipment, as well as platform screen doors at four stations. Siemens will also supply a fleet of 19 Avenio low-floor light rail systems equipped with the Sitras HEPP system for catenary-free use.
The project is planned to be opened in the fall of 2015 and it is planned to provide free service in Education City Doha.
