Alstom wins the modernization of the Boston Massachusetts Bay Transportation Agency Two-Rail Fleet

Boston Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority MBTA signed a contract with Alstom Transport for the modernization project of two rail fleet worth approximately 170 million Euros. The contract of the project is planned to be signed in Alstom's office in New York and the project to be started as soon as possible.
The first project includes the full modernization of 86 light rail vehicles running on the MBTA Green Line. The Green Line, which uses 200,000 people daily, has been providing transportation between Boston's city center and suburbs since 1980. Even the modernization of the vehicles used is expected to be completed in 2013 at the latest.
In the second project, ALSTOM will undertake the repair of 74 MBTA suburban trains. The work also covers the maintenance of brake system components in each vehicle, the installation of new operator control screens, passenger information screens, interior seating, dynamic signage and raised door control mechanisms.
