Warning strike by railway workers in Belgium

In Belgium, trains stopped across the country due to a 1-day warning strike of railway workers.

The strike, which was called by the unions, who argued that the government's plan to restructure the railway companies would result in loss of vested rights and worsen working conditions, also affected high-speed train services from Brussels to capitals such as Paris, London and Amsterdam.

Due to the strike in the railway sector, 90, which was the turnout rate, caused long vehicle queues at the entrances of metropolitan cities such as Brussels and Antwerp.

The Minister of Public Enterprises, Paul Magnette, warned that the strike had a serious cost to the Belgian economy, and invited the unions to a meeting on October 5 to renegotiate the restructuring plan of the different railway companies in the coalition government's program.
