Samsun light rail system 2 carried 26.5 million passengers annually

The celebration program was organized due to the fact that the light rail system, which was implemented by the Metropolitan Municipality and was very popular with the citizens, turned 2 years old. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General, who said that they were happy and happy to celebrate the second year of the light rail system after the red carnation distribution, announced that 10.10.2010 trams have carried a total of 10.10 million 16 thousand 26 passengers since 417. Explaining that 820 thousand 2 trips were made in 207 years, Sefer Arlı said that the trams traveled a total of 623 million 3 thousand 321 kilometers in this number of trips. Providing information about the system, which costs about 986 million Euros, Sefer Arlı said, “Our line capacity is 110 thousand per day. While we have an average of 90 thousand passengers on the weekend, this number is around 50 thousand 67 on weekdays. Our trams, which run every 500 minutes, run 5 daily trips. We are happy to serve our people with our 357 personnel and 239 transfer buses ”.


Sefer Arlı, who said that work is continuing rapidly to establish new rail public transportation lines between Samsun and Tekkeköy, said, “Our light rail system works are continuing for Tekkeköy district. Our planning and feasibility studies continue for the establishment of the lines. In addition, the tender was launched for the purchase of 45 new tramways of 5 meters in length for existing routes. The division commission continues its investigations on this matter, ”he said.


Noting that negotiations are continuing with the existing public buses, minibuses and minibus lines, Deputy Secretary General of the Metropolitan Municipality Sefer Arlı stated that by purchasing 23 new buses in line with UKOME decisions, a transfer and supply network will be established with the rail system. Expedition Arlı said, “Our buses, all of which are modern, electronic, air-conditioned and suitable for disabled use, will be put into service on the rail system routes in November. In other words, for my passengers who cannot reach the rail system, it will transfer from north to south and from south to north. It is envisaged that these buses will provide supply between the university and the city center, and economic transfer between different regions of the city with the rail system ”.
