Is the George Street tram project suspended?

In order to relieve Sydney's central traffic, buses were underground and a tram line on George Street was envisaged, and work was initiated in this way, but the O'Farrell Government thinks this project will not be useful.

NSW Infrastructure Minister Nick Greiner said in his statement, “In our opinion, the light tram line to be installed on George Street will be inefficient. It will operate very slowly and will not have enough passenger capacity. ”

As for the transportation of buses underground, a plan is considered as follows. At the entrance to the Harbor Bridge, buses will enter the old tram tunnels, which are currently used as parking lots, and go aboveground in Town Hall. The total cost of the project is 2 billion dollars and it is aimed to finish between 5 and 10 years.
