500 Million Lira Will Be Saved Annually With İZKARAY

Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yıldırım, stated that the Izmir Highway and Rail Gulf Crossing Project (İZKARAY), which will allow Izmir to circulate in 60 minutes, will save time and fuel significantly.

Binali Yıldırım, in his written statement, stated that they attach great importance to İzmir's transportation projects, that they consider the projects in two contexts, and that there are projects that will solve İzmir's urban public transportation problem first.

In this context, Yıldırım stated that they focused on rail system projects and that they will build a railroad ring road circulating around İzmir Bay and IZKARAY. With the completion of the Izmir Gulf crossing connection road project, vehicles coming from the northern axis of Izmir will not be able to enter the city traffic and reach the south of Izmir Bay. ”

Yildirim, highway and rail system planned as the İzmir Gulf passage will be integrated with the Izmir Ring Road, stating the following statements are included in the statement:

“The rail section of the Izmir Bay crossing will be connected to the metro and suburban rail systems. We plan to make the connection in Atatürk Organized Industrial Zone in the north and İnciraltı in the south. We held the tender for the project of the approximately 9,5 kilometers long gulf passage in May, and the tender process is about to be completed. ”

Stating that İZKARAY will connect to İzmir Ring Road from Mavişehir and follow Bornova, Bus Station, Buca and Balçova respectively, Yıldırım stated that the existing ring road is approximately 55 kilometers, and the completion of the gulf pass is He said that it would be completed and the link would turn into a full circle.

Binali Yıldırım stated that there will be two "necklaces" of İzmir with İZKARAY, "One is a rail pass and one is a highway. We foresee an investment of 5 billion liras for İZKARAY. When the project is completed, our citizens of Izmir will save 500 million liras annually from time and fuel. ”
