As a result of disaster, there is no opportunity to work in the factory. All 5 personnel of the factory died in the earthquake. The workers, who did not want to close TÜVASAŞ, whose financial loss in the earthquake reached 132 million lira, claimed their factories despite the trauma they experienced. The workers, who also received the support of the Railroad-Labor Union and the ministry, of which they are members, worked free of charge at weekends and removed the wreckage in a short time without saying day and night. He repaired the damaged machines and benches. Workers managed to take off the first wagon 85 days later from a factory, 45 percent of which was destroyed, working under tarpaulin in the rain. The factory, which started production with the struggle of the workers, soon became black.
Cemal Yaman, President of the Sakarya Branch, the Sakarya Branch, said that the factory has come to these days thanks to the devotion of the workers. Yaman explained the time of the earthquake as follows: “After the earthquake, we came to our wagon factory, which is our bread boat with friends. We saw that the factory was on the ground, we could not believe it. The factory was flat when we climbed up and looked up. We saw that the wagons under the wreckage were like paper. It was an incredible painting. We cried quietly. We said, 'Our bread boat is gone.' ”
Noting that there were approximately 300 workers in the factory during the earthquake, Yaman said, “85 percent of the factory was destroyed. Workers were not able to work in a factory that could not produce. It was informed that the factory would be closed. As a union, we went to Enis Öksüz, the Minister of Transport of the time. We said, 'We will make it productive.' He showed us the article and said that there is no production possibility. We said we will produce insistently. He said, 'You produce, I will build this factory.' Workers worked voluntarily. On the one hand, we removed the debris, on the other hand, we produced a wagon. We produced wagons under nylon tarpaulins in the rain. After 45 days, we took the wagon out of a factory, 85 percent of which was destroyed. If the wagon factory lives today, this is the breaking point. Now we have the most modern factory in Turkey. We proudly explain the point reached. ” said.
Hüseyin Çolak (47), who works as a door master at the factory, stated that the workers struggled to prevent the factory from closing. Çolak expressed his experiences as follows: “The entire factory was destroyed. The 10 new wagons we delivered were also under the rubble. A decision was made with the union. We said, "We will do it, as long as the debris is up, the factory goes into production." We gave up the fee. One of our friends died during debris removal. We worked for 3 -4 months. We removed the debris first. We separated the solid parts from the wagons. Then we started manufacturing. Now we are producing wagons to many countries. ”
TÜVASAŞ, Turkey's largest 2011 industrial companies took part in the list in 500. Ranking 168.8th with the highest turnover in its history and net sales revenue from 467 million TL production, TÜVASAŞ signed the production of the first domestic diesel train set. The factory, which also produces train sets to be used in the Marmaray Project, sells wagons to the Middle East and African countries. The factory finally entered the EU by producing luxury sleeping passenger cars for Bulgaria.
