Stating that they always believe that transportation in Istanbul will be relieved by public transportation and that the most important leg of public transportation is rail systems, Topbaş announced the following statements:
“Although it is the most expensive and heavily progressing work in the world, we have given speed and weight to metro investments. As a municipality, we spent approximately 10 billion liras on subways during this period. Just last month we laid the foundation of Üsküdar-Ümraniye-Çekmeköy-Sancaktepe subway.
Construction of the Haliç Metro Crossing Bridge, which will connect Taksim to Yenikapı over the Golden Horn, continues without slowing down. Başakşehir-Bağcılar-Yenikapı metro is at its last stage. We managed to increase the subway networks by 128 percent in our period. We put the first metrobus of Istanbul into service with the same understanding. We brought our Metrobus line to Beylikdüzü this month.
