Eskişehir Odunpazarı Mayor Burhan Sakallı; He gave important explanations about Eskisehir's future vision and the Station Building. In his written statement, Chairman Sakallı provided the following opinions;
Dır Eskişehir should focus on developing a strategic vision for becoming a world city. It should form a road map from today to the future. One of the preconditions for this is that our city administrators meet on a democratic sharing and discussion basis. Short-term political calculations, rematches or vicious inequalities should go beyond. For example, the station building, stadium, such issues could not be addressed on such a floor. It is wrong to limit such issues to the technical level. Undoubtedly technical details are important. But more importantly, it is a part of the vision of the future of Eskişehir.
Eskişehir has been talking about where to build the new railway station for a long time. As if it was the end of the world, making it a hundred meters forward or two hundred meters back.
I think we don't want to talk about the real issues, so we like to keep the artificial agendas we've produced. There is a lot to talk about the new garage.
For example, the new Gar building should be one of the symbol buildings of Eskişehir. We need to talk about what we can do to build a building to register that Eskişehir is the capital of railways.
After the high-speed train services started, the demand for railway transportation increased slightly, and the city started to become insurmountable during the train arrival times. Because there was no integration of existing railway station into public transport system. Under normal conditions, the streets which were already under load were unable to carry the additional load on the train arrival times. We should already consider measures to prevent similar traffic problems in the new gar building.
We have a lot to discuss about the new building. We also have to think about what to do and how to evaluate the current gates. For many years, we have to serve Eskişehir to find the way to evaluate the city's memory.
Eskişehir owes a lot to railways. Thanks to the railways, it developed rapidly in the last period of the Ottoman Empire and in the first period of the Republic. If we live in a modern city today, we cannot deny the share of railways. Railway and station building cannot be limited to transport. In terms of tourism, the expression of the city identity is extremely important. And where were they in these discussions. Eskişehir needs common goals in future strategies, not meetings.
For this reason, we must be able to discuss the civilization, like the people of a modern city. We need to make the problems one-dimensional technical problems and give up some kind of arm wrestling. Problem
