Öztürk stated that they are not against the workers to take a vacation as agents, but they want the necessary investments to be realized as soon as possible, and reminded that the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication, Binali Yıldırım, announced that approximately 267 million dollars will be invested in Alsancak Port. Öztürk said, “Money has been set aside for investments. Tenders should be finalized. What are we waiting? In what century are we living? The port's mobile and cranes need to work as soon as possible. "This is the only way we can solve the problem of congestion."
Union: Only 16 hours did not work
Port-İş Union İzmir Branch President Serdar Akdoğan stated that there is a holiday tradition at the port from the past and said, “There will be no work in the port on the first day of the holiday. All agencies know this. It makes arrangements accordingly. We worked from night to morning on the first day of the holiday. We did not stop working to get rid of the jam. "It just didn't work for 16 hours." Akdoğan added that the congestion due to the holiday will disappear in a few days.
