It is located in the Southwest of Rotterdam Netherlands. It is the second largest city in population after Amsterdam, but Rotterdam has a larger area. Rotterdam is home to Europe's largest port. It is the point where cargoes brought from all over the world enter the continent from the north.
Rotterdam takes its name from the Rotte River. In this city, where about half of the population (in 2007: 584.046 people) is not Dutch, there is also a significant Turkish population of 7,8 (45.457 people).
Rotterdam metro is a metro network located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The Rotterdam subway was opened on February 9, 1968 and is the country's first metro system. The system is 78.3 km long and has five lines and 62 stations.
