The Baskilies demand that the train route passing by drawing an “S” from the district center be changed.
Naim Aslanmirza, Chairman of the Board of Printmakers, AA correspondent, said the railway line passing through the district center is very active.
Aslanmirza stated that the Elazig, Diyarbakır-Kurtalan-Batman and Tatvan-Van-Iran railway lines merge on the Elazig-Yolcati route and reach Malatya from Baskil on a single line, and stated that there are at least 24 daily trains on the route.
Aslanmirza stated that the line constructed in 1934 passed the district center by drawing "S" in the north-south direction due to the slope of the land and added:
“Considering that 24 trains per day pass through the district center as if they were exploring the district by drawing the letter 'S' and this transition can increase up to an average of 30 minutes for passenger and freight trains, it is obvious that the townspeople are constantly exposed to train noise. The townspeople are negatively affected by this noise in terms of physiological and psychological aspects, quality of life and work performance. We are under an iron blockade in the district. The railway prevents the creation of urban renewal projects as well as noise and visual pollution. In addition, the railway divides the district center into parts and automatically closes the directions in which the district can develop. ”

Indicating that the railway can be passed directly from the south of the district with today's technology, Aslanmirza stated that if the trains pass directly through a new line to be made in the south of the district, the 14-kilometer part in the form of the letter 'S' will be shortened to 6 kilometers.
Aslanmirza said, “This will save energy and time, and the maintenance costs of the line will be low. We should not overlook the contribution of these benefits to the national economy. ”
Aslanmirza stated that they want to change the railway route, and said that they expect sensitivity from politicians and bureaucrats.
The local people also asked to change the line, arguing that the railway route was scattered, disrupting the integrity of the district and causing noise and image pollution.
Meanwhile, in the scientific publication titled “Problems Arising From Natural Environment Features and Solution Suggestions in Baskil Basin” published in the 2009nd issue of 2, Fırat University Journal of Social Sciences, starting from 450 meters in the north of the basin of the district center, It is stated that it goes down to meters.
In the publication, “There is an altitude difference of 350 meters between the lowest area of the basin floor and the highest section. For this reason, the slope in the basin floor reaches 7-8 percent from north to south. The curved shape of the railway passing through the basin similar to the letter 'S' is the result of this situation ”.
