Svilengrad near the border with Turkey for a long time in Plovdiv was approached last line in the ongoing modernization process. The control center of the integrated signaling and telecommunication system is part of the modernization work of 38,6 million Euros. With the line rehabilitation, electrification and signalization system, the speed of the existing line has become suitable for 160 km / h. Serbian city of Nis to the Bulgarian border between the final point in the modernization process as well as the modernization works of the 19km'lik road between the border with Turkey are ongoing. Upon completion of the modernization work, Turkey will speed up the connection of Eastern and Central Europe, it will also be integrated into the EU pan-European Corridor X connection.
