TOBB Chairman Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu: the increasing importance of railways Turkey, will be the world's logistics center

Turkey Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, the importance of railways in the increase in the use and export of more logistics center said that Turkey would be the world's goods.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that he has been closely following the Turkish private sector of the whole world in his speech at the General Assembly of the Western Anatolian Logistics Organizations Inc. (BALO) held in the Izmir Chamber of Commerce Assembly Hall. Stating that the industry sector is experiencing great difficulties in Europe and all over the world with increasing global problems, Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the competitiveness of the industrialists is also decreasing.
Stating that BALO AŞ will provide huge benefits to both its partners, the state and the Turkish private sector, Hisarcıklıoğlu said:
“Hopefully, when the first train services start in 2013, we will see this all together. When we first discussed BALO AŞ, we thought of it as a logistics center that would serve the Western Anatolia Region. But as we worked on the project, we saw that there is a greater logistical shortage throughout Anatolia. In particular, transportation costs hinder the competitiveness of our industrialists in Anatolia. ”
Although there are Customs Union agreements with the European Union, it is not only Hisarcıklıoğlu who draws attention to the fact that only the provinces in the western region can use this advantage.
“While Istanbul makes 51 percent of its exports, 61 percent of Izmir and 78 percent of Bursa to Europe, Konya in the middle of Anatolia can make 33 percent and Gaziantep only 24 percent to Europe. So, shipping costs reduce competitiveness. That's why when BALO AŞ was opened to partnership, our rooms and exchanges in Anatolia and OIZs got a bigger share. They put their hands under the stone to bring their cities further into the European market. That's why I say BALO is no longer a Western Anatolian Logistics Project. It is the Great Anatolian Logistics Project. ”
Hisarcıklıoğlu, is still the case, despite Europe's economic problems will continue to be a center of world consumption for longer important market for Turkey, he said.
Explaining that energy costs cause great problems and countries that have lowered transportation costs will have advantages, Hisarcıklıoğlu continued:
“The transportation way that reduces the cost and minimizes time loss and human error is rail transportation. Unfortunately we bumped into this process as a ayıbı Turkey. Only 30 years after the invention of railway transportation in Anatolian geography, it got its first railway line.
Considering that the printing house came to these lands 270 years after its invention, it is a great development that rail transportation has arrived within 30 years. In other words, we have become one of the first countries to use the railway after countries such as the USA, England and Russia. ”
- 1 percent of the export is by rail.
Pointing out that the first railway of Anatolia was laid between İzmir and Aydın, where the center of BALO AŞ was established, Hisarcıklıoğlu continued as follows:
“Later, the line was extended from Istanbul to Hejaz. Unfortunately, we have not developed or used this technology. At the point we have reached today, we make only 1 percent of our exports by rail. We have become unable to organize a single scheduled freight train to Europe. Can you imagine, you will build one of the first railways in the world, but you will remove and throw aside all the accumulation. However, especially in the last 8 years, railways have been on our agenda again. Significant investments have been made and continue to be made. Turkey is going through a rapid evolution, especially in the transport of passengers and trains in the area. Railways are no longer an idle investment. Now the BALO Project will be a revolution in the field of freight transportation of this rapid development on railways. Now our industrialists in Anatolia will carry their goods to Europe in the cheapest and punctual way. The transportation service will go up to the foot of our industrialists, and the entire transportation process will be followed on the computer with the most modern systems. ”
Hisarcıklıoğlu, while Turkish goods are transported to Europe by BALL, on the other hand, the Viking train with this line of Scandinavian would extend the country, Turkey's close with a process in the Hejaz railway connection was said to be the gateway to the Middle East.
Historical Silk Road Project is also of great importance voicing Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, "the ancient Silk Road Project with Turkey from the Atlantic to the Pacific, will be the main transport base until the whole world of the Red Sea from the Baltic Sea region. Turkey, the world will be the logistics center of the property, "he said.
-BALO President
BALL Chairman and Manisa Industrial Chamber of Commerce President Bulent Koşmaz, prom Turkey to increase the share of rail in international transport, environment-friendly and economic transportation models created in December of 2011 with the objective of improving that, newcomers to the capital increase and within the extraordinary in Izmir with partners said that they did the general assembly.
Stating that 52 percent of exports are made by sea, 40 percent by road, 7 percent by sea, and 1 percent by railways. By using railway transportation, which is a modern transportation system today, we will ensure that Turkish exporters' products reach international markets much more economically. With this project, we also aim to contribute to leave a livable future for our children. ”
Bülent Koşmaz gave Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu a railroad cross-section from the Izmir-Aydın railway, the first railway laid in Anatolia in 1856.
