According to the statement made by TCDD and titled “High Speed ​​Train Going to Izmir”, Ankara-İzmir YHT Project consists of Ankara- (Polatlı) - Afyonkarahisar, Afyonkarahisar-Uşak and Uşak-Manisa-İzmir stages. The project will be completed in 1080 days (3 years). The project, which is expected to be completed at 3,5 billion liras, aims to transport 6 million passengers a year. With the project, the total length of which is 624 kilometers, the travel time between Ankara and Izmir will be 3 hours 30 minutes.
The Ankara - (Polatlı) - Afyonkarahisar section, whose infrastructure construction contract will be signed, will be 167 kilometers. The line, which will leave the 120th kilometer of the existing YHT line, Ankara-Konya road, will reduce the travel time between Ankara and Afyonkarahisar to one and a half hours. In fact, the speed can reach 250 kilometers per hour, there will be 8 tunnels of 11 thousand meters in length, 16 viaducts will be built.
While the construction tender for the Afyonkarahisar-Uşak phase of the Ankara-İzmir YHT Project was initiated in 2012, revision works for the implementation projects of the Uşak-Manisa-İzmir phase are continuing.
