Kemalpaşa railway connection 9 to open in September

Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Binali Yıldırım, stated that the Kemalpaşa railway connection, which will connect the North Aegean Port and the Kemalpaşa Organized Industrial Zone (KOSBİ), will be opened on 9 September.
In a written statement made by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, it was stated that the railway connection investments continue within the scope of the works carried out in order to make İzmir the center of logistics operations, and the site will be delivered for the establishment of a "Logistics Village" in Kemalpaşa.
In the statement, Minister Yıldırım, who made evaluations regarding logistics investments, stated that İzmir has been the center of logistics operations as the port city since the first years of history, and they started the Alsancak Port Rehabilitation Project as well as North Aegean Port in order to meet the increasing needs.
Yıldırım stated that the number of companies carrying out international transportation in İzmir is close to 300, the number of companies carrying out domestic transportation is close to 2 thousand and in this context, it is imperative to establish a logistics village in İzmir:
”This number will increase exponentially due to the developing trade in İzmir. Our aim is not only Turkey's Izmir is one of Europe's major logistics base. In this context, we started to work on establishing a logistics village in Kemalpaşa. We made the tender and we will deliver the place soon after the evaluations.
Gulab Logistics Center, will be Turkey's largest logistics base. 3 thousand 14 containers will be stored in the center, which will be established on an area of 211 million square meters. Storage and logistics services will be moved to Kemalpaşa Logistics Center and relief will be provided in urban transportation. The center will be connected to the Northern Aegean Port with the construction of the Kemalpaşa Railway Connection Line and will be the collection center of the Aegean Region's cargoes.
Currently, all of the transportation in the region is done by road. However, due to environmental pollution on the highway, traffic accidents and high cost, the factories in the region are making serious demands for rail transport. For this reason, we started the Kemalpaşa Railway Connection project. This line will provide intensive freight transportation and connect KOSBİ to the existing railway. We started the works for completing the 27 km long line on August 26, 2011. We open the Kemalpaşa railway connection, which will connect the North Aegean Port and Kemalpaşa Organized Industrial Zone, on September 9, the day of İzmir's liberation. Thus, we have taken the most important step to make Kemalpaşa Logistics Village the center of aggregation of Aegean Region cargoes. ”
Stating that the railway loads coming from the direction of Denizli, Aydın after the completion of the logistic village will follow the Torbalı-Kemalpaşa-Menemen-Aliağa-Çandarlı route, Yıldırım stated that the warehouses in the İzmir and Kemalpaşa settlements will be moved to the Kemalpaşa Logistics Village.
