TCDD rolled up its sleeves for a new line that will cover the Southeast at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour. One end of the project, which will connect Diyarbakır and Mardin, will extend to Iraq and Syria. While the High Speed Train (YHT) works, which will reduce the distance between Ankara and Istanbul to three hours, continue at full speed, news of a new project involving the Southeastern Anatolia Region came. State Railways TCDD pressed the button for a new YHT line that will connect cities in the Southeast in a few hours. Before the project, renovation works were started on the railway lines starting from Adana to the Iraqi and Syrian borders. When the project is completed, transportation will become fast and easy despite the geographical conditions in the region, and a serious logistics advantage will be achieved for trade with Middle Eastern countries such as Iraq, which has shown remarkable development in recent years.

Following the overhaul of all lines in the Southeast, a new railway will be built between Diyarbakır - Şanlıurfa and Şanlıurfa - Mardin. Malatya - Elazig - Gaziantep will be connected to each other with the lines where electric trains with a speed of 160 kilometers per hour will be used. With the lines planned to be completely completed in 2023, the Edirne - Hakkari connection will be completed after Edirne - Kars. With the new lines, both the capacity and the quality of the transportation to the region will increase. Considering Turkey's geographical advantages, it is expected that this sector will also make significant breakthroughs with the YHT lines, which will create a serious advantage in logistics. According to the project, a logistics base will be built in Mardin. Thus, the cargoes in the region will be able to be transported to the port of Iskenderun with the new lines to be built. In the second phase of the project, there is the construction of railways connecting Syria and Iraq.

Istanbul – Izmir YHT project is ready

The high-speed train line that will connect ISTANBUL to Izmir is planned to be completed by 2023. Bursa-Balıkesir-İzmir, the continuation of the route that will connect Bursa to the Ankara-Eskişehir-Istanbul high-speed train line, is under construction. With the construction of the new line of approximately 350 kilometers, it will be possible to go from Istanbul to Izmir in 3.5 hours by high-speed train. – Source MORNING
