Istanbul Gets "Museum Station"

The Yenikapı Metro Transfer Point and the Arkeopark Area, where historical artifacts from Marmaray excavations will be exhibited, have come to an end. Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Topbaş stated that 3 projects related to the subject were evaluated and one of them would be put into practice.
With the completion of the Marmaray project, Yenikapı Metro Transfer Center will be an important center where approximately 2 million people will travel per day.
Thousands of historical artifacts uncovered during the excavations will be exhibited in a museum.
Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Kadir Topbaş, 8 bin 500 said that the archaeological findings of the past will take place at the museum station.
Topbaş said, “We wanted this station not only to be a metro node point but also to bring together the north-south east-west axes, but also a museum citation. and as far as we can watch in the studies on this subject, these compilations were made. ”
42 of 9 projects prepared by international architects competed for this important project. 9 of those 3 projects were finalized. One of these will give life to the Yenikapı region, which has been closed for years. While the excavation area is preserved, the projects will be integrated with the city.
A biological treatment plant is planned in the area where the station is expected to cost 300 million dollars.
