As part of the High-Speed Train (YHT) Project between Ankara and Istanbul, following the removal of regional expressions from Haydarpaşa to Anatolia by means of express trains, suburban trains were limited due to the Marmaray studies.

TCDD announced that as of today (April 29, 2012), suburban train services between Pendik and Gebze will not be made. The statement on the TCDD website briefly said: “The Marmaray Project carried out by the General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments' Gebze-Haydarpaşa, Sirkeci-Halkalı Construction of the Gebze-Pendik line is started within the scope of the section "Improvement of Suburban Lines, Electromechanical Systems". Train services are suspended on the Gebze-Pendik line due to the work. Suburban trains will make 176 trips a day on the Haydarpaşa Pendik Haydarpaşa line.

The United Transport Union (BTS) and the Chamber of Architects reacted to the restriction on suburban trains. Haydarpaşa Solidarity claimed that the application was carried out to quickly give the station and its surroundings to private capital. Haydarpaşa Solidarity has been sitting on the stairs of the station every Sunday for 13 weeks, protesting the practices of TCDD. - Nationality
