Rail High Speed Cargo Transport Test Drive Between France and England

At the end of March 2012, the Euro Carex organization, the group of regroups political authorities, airports and train operators, tested the provision of freight transport services by rail with high-speed trains.

The high-speed train carrying 120 tons of cargo will serve between Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport and St Pancras train station in London. While the travel time was 8 hours and 30 minutes, when using conventional freight trains, the travel time was four times longer.

If the project is successful, high-speed trains will begin to be used in cargo transportation services on the Paris-Lyon, -London-Amsterdam-Brussels-Frankfurt route.
