The German infrastructure manager DB announced that it will start working to completely renew the electrification project of the 57.5km Horka - Knappenrode - Zentendorf (Polish border) line in East Germany this year.
The connection, which was built as a single line in 1946, will be restored as a double line and the signalization of 52 km of the route will be made again.
Construction of the line to be double-tracked will begin next year, and all of the works, including noise cancellation, are expected to be completed by the end of 2016. In addition, electrification of 12.5km from the border of the Wegliniec line on the Polish side will also be made.
