Afyonkarahisar High Speed ​​Railway Station Location

Afyonkarahisar residents will be able to reach Ankara in 6 hours thanks to the station that will be built on an area of ​​150 decares on the 1,5th kilometer of the Afyonkarahisar-Kütahya road.

Work on the Afyonkarahisar leg of the Ankara-Antalya stage has been reported.

Mustafa Babal, Head of Department of Production of State Railways, and Mustafa Tuncay, Head of Investigation Department, General Directorate of Infrastructure Investment, attended the meeting organized by Afyonkarahisar Governor İrfan Balkanlıoğlu and informed the participants about the latest status of the project.

Governor İrfan Balkanlıoğlu said that Afyonkarahisar, which is at the intersection of highways, will be at the intersection point in air and railway transportation, the number of 5-star thermal hotels in Afyonkarahisar has increased rapidly and that the 1,5 hour drop between Ankara and Afyonkarahisar will contribute to the development of thermal tourism.

Governor Balkanlıoğlu, the station to be made in the city center of the Ömer-Gecek basin is planned to be made somewhere.

Mustafa Babal, Head of State Railways Production Department, said that they started the works after the tender of the project.

Stating that the project is expected to be completed within 3 years, Babal said, “Afyonkarahisar residents will have a modern, comfortable and convenient transportation after the project is completed. We have a 250-kilometer transportation line. This distance will be taken in 1,5 hours. We think that it will make important contributions to the economic and social development of the city ”.

State Railways Infrastructure Investments General Directorate of Investigation Head of Department Mustafa Tuncay, as a station located in the area of ​​Omer-Gecek basin 150 acres will be made an area, he said.

Tuncay stated that Zafer Airport is planned to be operational this year and that it is planned to provide transportation from the airport to the city center by making a light rail system.

Attending the meeting, Afyonkarahisar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) President Hüsnü Serteser stated that alternative studies could be carried out on the location of the station and demanded that the Ministry of Transport install a light rail system between the bus station and the new train station.
