Especially, the presence of the street garage and ESHOT bus transfer center at the exit of the station will provide great convenience and convenience in transportation.
As a result of the second tender, 19 cubic meters of excavation was made in the construction of the Bornova metro line, the construction of which began on 2010 August 375.000. 55.000 cubic meters of concrete, 10.500 meters of bored piles, 1950 precast beams, 9060 meters of rail, 7550 traverses and 15.000 tons of iron were used. 8 escalators and 6 elevators were installed at the stations. During the test drives, which started on January 26, 2012, many technical details, from the alignment of the train sets to the energy intake, the measurement of the sound level, the switching safety of the vehicle, the control of the electronic parts of the vehicle, the signaling and communication, were repeatedly reviewed. Starting from March 20, 2012, operating routes with two new stations of the Izmir Metro, University and Evka 3 stations started. Expeditions of the new line were made with new wagons made in China. The number of stations of the Izmir Metro became 3 with the official opening ceremony of Ege University and Evka 12 stations.
Izmir residents loved and adopted the metro, which provides contemporary, comfortable, safe and fast transportation from the first day. The most concrete expression of this was the increasing number of passengers day by day. Especially between 2008 and 2011, the number of passengers in İzmir Metro increased by 80 percent. In 2001, the number of passengers averaged 75 thousand per day, while this number reached 160 thousand and 173 thousand per day in the first days when two new stations started to carry passengers. The mileage covered by subway trains also increased every year. This also indicates that the frequency of voyages has increased and that it is now operating at very short intervals. For example, while 2001 million 1 thousand kilometers were covered on the metro line in 105, 2011 million 1 thousand kilometers were covered in 350, as a clear expression of this increase.
With the opening of Ege University and Evka 3 stations, Izmir Metro started to serve with 12 stations. 11,6 km. The line reached 14 km with newly added stations. İZBAN, which operates on the north-south axis with the Izmir Metro, located on the east-west axis of the city, can switch to Halkapınar Station within a 90-minute transfer system. Aliağa line forming the north axis of İZBAN and Cumaovası line, which is the south axis, serve with a total length of 80 kilometers and 31 stations. In fact, an average of 165 thousand passengers are transported per day.
Total 94 km. The city rail system, which is long in length and embraces İzmir with its east, west, north and south, carries an important load of the public transportation system by carrying an average of 340 thousand passengers per day. The bay lengths of Ege University and Evka 3 stations were constructed in accordance with the 125 meter and 5-car series as in the others.
With the start of new line passenger pre-service flights, ESHOT reduced the traffic load in the hospital area by taking the transfer point of some buses from Bornova Metro to Evka 3 in the first place.
The new trains manufactured by the Chinese CSR company for the Izmir Metro consist of 4 sets with 8 wagons each. 32 of the total 16 wagons are MD, that is, the type with driver cabin. The number of wagons of Izmir Metro from 45 will increase to 77 with new vehicles. Three of the new train sets, all with air conditioning and advanced specifications, arrived. It was put into operation after necessary trials and drives. All five train sets will arrive in Izmir in the coming months.
