Within the scope of İzmir Bay and İzmir Port Rehabilitation Project, TCDD has signed a contract with the company that will provide consultancy services to prepare the EIA report and to take the decisions of the EIA.
IZSU, TCDD and DLH officials, who came together for this new cooperation that started in the Gulf, exchanged views on the studies and methods to be carried out. Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu also attended the meeting at İZSU General Directorate.

Stating that the Büyük Körfez Project is directly related to the survival of the inner gulf of Izmir, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Aziz Kocaoğlu said, “There is an alluvial flow from the creeks to the Gulf. These alluviums gradually fill and fill the gulf. We have significantly revised the Grand Canal Project, which started with a work of more than 20 years, with the works we have done for the last two years, such as cleaning and additional line construction. We will ensure that the gulf is continuously scanned and the incoming alluviums are removed by carrying out deepening studies in the creeks and certain parts of the Izmir Bay with the dredging vessel, which will start serving at the end of the summer. In addition, the circulation channel to be opened on the northern axis of the Gulf will increase the quality of the water and bring vitality to the Gulf. ”
