Derince-Tekirdağ Ferry Line: Due to the High Speed Train (YHT) Project, the Ministry of Transport has taken a series of precautions as the train services will stop between Izmit and Gebze for 1 years from February 2.
Routine maintenance was removed for two years on the highway parallel to the route, the public transportation capacities of the municipalities were increased, a ferry line was created between Derince and Tekirdağ in order to prevent the industrial logistics sector and shippers from carrying by train. In the meantime, the bus services of the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality on this route started this morning, and the citizens did not pay much attention to the buses on the first day.
In the statement made by the General Directorate of TCDD, it was reminded that there will be a 1-month train traffic on the Eskişehir-Istanbul line due to the construction of the Izmit Köseköy- Gebze High Speed Train line. In the statement, the completion of the Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Train Line, which is the largest High Speed Train Line in the country, and the Ankara-Eskişehir section, which was opened in 2012, in the construction phase of the Eskişehir-Istanbul section, was completed in 24 with MARMARAY in an integrated manner. stated to be targeted.
In the explanation, he said:
“In this section, the old line and the new line, which are referred to as 'displacement' in the railway literature, are built on top of each other for reasons such as geographical conditions, urbanization and expropriation difficulties. In this framework, since the Köseköy-Gebze section is completely on the existing line due to the expropriation difficulties, it was not possible to sustain the train traffic at the same time with the work done, both in terms of safety and completion of the line on time. Despite the fact that the existing road is a double line, it is also not suitable for the construction of one line and working on the other because of the lines on the same platform, in terms of project construction time and costs. In addition, this section is made for the first time on the railways in our country with EU grant loans, and the duration of the grant is defined. ”
In the statement, within the scope of YHT line construction, the existing line between Köseköy and Gebze, built in 1890, will be reconstructed 122 years later and the physical and geometric conditions will be made suitable for High Speed Train operation. In addition, there was no level crossing on this line, stating that:
“On the line, there are 9 tunnels, 10 tunnels, 122 bridges and 141 culverts, one on and off. These structures will be modified and standardized if necessary, 28 new culverts and 1 underpass will be built. Within the scope of the construction, approximately 1 million 800 thousand cubic meters of excavation and 720 thousand cubic meters of fill will be carried out. On the other hand, a new line is planned from the north in parallel with the Köseköy-Gebze section, and the connection of this road will be provided with the Third Bosphorus Bridge on the north Marmara motorway. This region of our country will have a multi-choice railway transportation network in the medium term, with the second high-speed railway, Istanbul-Ankara, which has been designed with Marmaray, Ankara-Istanbul High Speed Railway. In order to meet the transportation needs of the citizens in the most reasonable measure during the construction process, meetings were held with the governors of the provinces of the region under the direction of the Minister of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Kocaeli, Istanbul, Sakarya Metropolitan Municipalities, Governorships, TCDD General Directorate, General Directorate of Highway Regulation, IETT, Istanbul Transportation Inc. On-site inspections were also made by delegations made up of officials. ”
In the statement, the measures taken in order not to be the victims of the victims are listed as follows:
- Routine maintenance has been lifted for two years except for emergencies on parallel highway and it has been decided to keep the road constantly open.
Public transport capacities of municipalities for the region have been increased.
A ferry line between Derince and Tekirdağ has been established in order not to interfere with the transportation of our industrialists, the logistics sector and our transporters by train.
The Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, under the Directorate of Road Regulation, has established a committee to ensure the continuity of the coordination between local governments and governorships during the 2 year, and to carry out the necessary works for the convenient transportation of citizens during the time the line is closed.
