
The Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and TCDD took the first critical decision regarding the Haydarpaşa Project, which has been on controversy for years.
TCDD General Manager Karaman stated that the Privatization Administration will carry out the Haydarpaşa Project tender, which creates a controversy, “We will receive rent every year during the operation. Anyone who wants to can go and visit the lower floor of Haydarpaşa Railway Station. ”
The Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and TCDD have made the first critical decision regarding the Haydarpaşa Project, which has been a subject of debate for years. The project will be entrusted to the Privatization Administration (ÖİB). ÖİB will conduct the tender process. Haydarpaşa Train Station was closed to train traffic for 1 years on February 2 due to the construction of the high-speed train line. In the first phase of the project, an engineering and architecture tender will be held. The architecture office determined by the tender will draw the project. In the second phase, a new tender will be held. In this tender, the investor who will undertake the construction and operation of the project will be determined. The business that wins the tender will be asked to develop 2 different projects and submit them to ÖİB. ÖİB will select a project that the Ministry of Transport and TCDD also 'approve' from among the 5 projects. The contractor who undertakes the construction and operation will start construction for this project. TCDD General Manager Süleyman Karaman stated that the project will be carried out with the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model and said, “The business that will carry out the project will pay a certain amount to TCDD up front. Then, we will receive rent every year during the operation period.” Karaman said that no decision has been made yet on whether the other floors of Haydarpaşa will be used as a hotel and that steps will be taken according to the projects to be prepared.
