Holding a press conference at the Trabzon Journalists Association today, Prof. Dr. Fazıl Celik reminded that he wrote a letter to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on 25 December 2011 regarding the issue. prof. Dr. Fazıl Çelik said, “In the letter, I stated that the 7 billion lira Trabzon-Erzincan Railway Project, which was built by a private company and presented in Trabzon, was extremely wrong, the country's resources were wasted and it was not feasible. After this letter, I sent two more letters to the Prime Minister and explained my alternative projects. I got a response to the letter after 1.5 months. In the response letter, after summarizing the works commissioned by the private firm, 'Feasibility studies were carried out according to mixed traffic for freight and passenger transport in all studies, and as a result, the Erzincan- Gümüşhane- Trabzon and Erzincan- Gümüşhane-Tirebolu lines were not feasible. In addition, as a result of the feasibility study studies carried out by ITU in 1983 and 1997, these lines were not viable' expression was used. As can be seen, the project, which was finally made by a private company and presented in Trabzon, was nothing but a well-known announcement, and it was registered that the worked route could not be made for the third time. The way of the mind is one. It also goes through science. I believe in the power of science. Common sense kazanis,” he said.
Emphasizing the alternative routes that KTÜ has been working on for the last 4 years, Prof. Dr. Çelik said, “The feasibility studies of these routes must be completed. Among the many alternative routes Ktü runs, two stand out. Both of these start from Erbaş Station in the east of Erzincan, pass through the broad Bayburt plains and reach Trabzon's Arsin and Of districts. The cost of each is at most $ 1.5 billion. Links can be provided from Arsin or Of to the relevant ports. "My most ideal project is the High Speed Train alternative because of the advantages of Batumi Railways providing the shortest connection and the longest tunnel being 12 km."
