Turkey's forty-year-old dream high-speed train started its Ankara-Eskişehir expeditions. A new line of 76 kilometers was built. Half of the existing railway line was renewed. Investment expenditures, which were 2002 million liras in 111, increased to 2010 billion 2 million liras in 500.
The Ministry of Transport plans 'fast' transportation to many cities in Anatolia in 2023. The goal is to build 9 thousand 978 kilometers of new railway lines, including 4 thousand 997 km of high-speed train lines and 14 thousand 975 km of conventional lines in the centenary of the Republic. This is the biggest railway move in the history of the Republic. The government attaches great importance to this project. The railway network, which is 11 thousand kilometers, will double in 12 years. According to the Minister, 'black train is delayed' and his understanding will be replaced by 'fast train catches'.
These goals also mean rewriting railroad history. Statistics seem to change. Double line length will increase from 9 percent to 50 percent. The electrical line rate, which is 26 percent, is 60 percent.
When the targets are achieved, high-speed trains will pass through 29 cities including Yozgat, Trabzon, Diyarbakır, Malatya as well as cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Sivas, Bursa. Its cost is approximately 45 billion dollars. 25-30 billion dollars of this money will be provided from China. According to the Railway Cooperation Agreement, the Chinese will build the 7 thousand 18 kilometer high-speed railway line. The remaining 2 kilometers will be built by the Railways with its own resources and foreign loans. The Chinese will start by building a 924-kilometer line extending from Edirne to Kars, including the Speed Railway, which turns into a snake story because the "Ayaş Tunnel" could not be passed. With the completion of the line, the travel time, which is 3 hours by road, will be between 636 and 16,5 hours. While the Chinese are building the Edirne-Kars line, they will also construct the 8-kilometer Erzincan-Trabzon and Yerköy-Kayseri lines.
High-speed trains will pass through four cities in the Central Anatolia Region. Konya is one of them. Another route is the Ankara-Sivas line of 466 kilometers. Construction work continues on this line. However, the high-speed train will depart from Yozgat 30 kilometers before Yerköy and arrive at the city center. He will then continue to Sivas. High-speed trains from Ankara or Istanbul will also go to Kayseri via Yerköy. Thus, Ankara-Yozgat will be 1,5 hours and Ankara-Kayseri will be 2 hours and 30 minutes by high-speed train. Ankara and Istanbul will also be connected to Antalya by high-speed train. From Ankara, you will reach Antalya in 2 hours and 45 minutes by following the Konya-Manavgat route. The distance between Istanbul and Antalya, which is 714 kilometers long, will be taken in 4 hours and 30 minutes.
The Ankara-Konya line, which has been on trial runs since 17 December 2010, was built at a speed of 275 kilometers. However, the speed of the train will not exceed 250 kilometers per hour. The journey time between the two cities, which is 10,5 hours by train, will be reduced to 1 hour and 15 minutes. The Minister of Transport, Binali Yıldırım, is very pleased that the 212-kilometer (424 km in two-way) line was completed in a short period of 17 months. He says that this is a world record, and similar projects were completed in Europe in 7-10 years. The Minister said, “Foreign contractors and personnel worked on the Ankara-Eskişehir and Eskişehir-Istanbul high-speed railway lines. However, the Ankara-Konya line was built by Turkish contractors and personnel.” says.
State Railways plans to build a high-speed train between Konya and Adana. The line will be built in such a way that the train can reach a speed of 200 kilometers in suitable sections and a minimum of 160 kilometers in difficult sections. With the improvement of the existing lines and the construction of additional lines, it is planned to operate high-speed trains on this route.
Konya's passenger number will exceed Eskişehir
It is planned to set up an hourly service between Ankara and Konya between 07.00:22.00 in the morning and 2023:3 in the evening. Passenger share increased to 72 percent
According to the State Railways data, the share of the bus in the transportation between Ankara and Eskişehir decreased from 13 percent to 2009 percent in a year and a half after the high speed train started on 55 March 10. The share of State Railways increased from 8 percent to 72 percent. The high-speed train also changed many preferences between the two cities. For example, citizens traveling between the two cities preferred their high-speed train. With the private vehicle, which was 38 percent before the train, travel fell to 18 percent. 11,5 million passengers on the Ankara-Eskişehir-Istanbul route
State Railways conducted a study on the number of passengers to be transported in case of the start of the high-speed train line between Ankara and Istanbul.
