Mashhad - Electrification project of the line was started

Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development attended the electrification project ceremony of the Mashhad-Tehran line officially launched on February 1. The first part of the project is expected to be completed in 24 months.

With electrification and infrastructure upgrades, it is planned to speed up passenger trains between 200 km / h and 160 km / and to reduce the travel time of the 926 km line from 12 hours to 6 hours. With this project, it is planned to increase the annual number of passengers from 13 million to 20 million.

If the second phase of the line is also carried out, it is planned that the current speed can reach 250 km / h and the number of passengers can reach 50 million.
