Smart commuter line coming to California

Sonoma Marin Alan Rail Transit, Stacy's & Witbeck and Herzog joint venture, won the tender for $ 103 million to build the first phase of the Smart commuter line in the Northern California Bay area.

The smart suburban line will be connected to the ferry in San Francisco with the 11o km Cloverdale line and 14 stations, which is the right arm of the Northwest Pacific Railway. The first phase of the contract includes the rehabilitation and provision of stations for the 60 km section between Santa Rosa and the Marin Civic Center. The next phase, headquartered in San Rafael, is expected to be contracted for $ 19 million soon. The contract for the Santa Rosa-Cloverdale line, which is the last part of the line, will be executed after all financing is provided.

The suburban DMU announced that the line, which is expected to carry between 30-5000 passengers for an average of 6000 minutes per day, is expected to be completed in 2016.
