Turkmenistan will build high-speed train line

Meeting with voters prior to the presidential elections to be held on February 12 in Turkmenistan, President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov noted that they will build a high-speed train line in his country.

Berdimuhamedov, who made a working visit to the Balkan province on the coast of the Caspian Sea as part of the election campaign, met with the railway workers there. Speaking at the meeting held at the train station in the city of Bereket, Berdimuhamedov stated that they carried out many major projects in 2011 and that the giant train line project of Central Asia was implemented in this context.

The Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway line, which is being built within the scope of the North-South transportation corridor, will allow European and Asian countries to open up to Central Asia and the Persian Gulf.

Noting that the railway line construction will continue along different routes in the future, Türkmen leader said; "We will build a high-speed train line between Turkmenbashi and Turkmenabat cities." he spoke.

The railway workers, who took the floor at the meeting, noted that they would use the vote in favor of Berdimuhamedov in the elections.

Turkmenistan will elect its head of state on February 12. 8 candidates will compete in the elections.
