Railway Line Dividing the City Departs in Sakarya

Adapazarı Train Station, which has been in service for 114 years in Sakarya, will be moved to the Intercity Bus Terminal built in Arifiye district on the grounds that it causes disruptions in transportation.

A serious step was taken regarding the railway, which caused serious problems in transportation due to being in the middle of the city. Sakarya Governor Mustafa Büyük, AK Party Sakarya Deputies and Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeki Toçoğlu presented the project of moving Adapazarı Train Station to the newly built intercity bus terminal to Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Binali Yıldırım.

Making a statement after the meeting held in Ankara, the metropolitan mayor Toçoğlu stated that they have been working for a long time to move the train station to the new terminal. Noting that trains run 24 times a day and the station is in the center negatively affects the urban traffic. “We had initiated such a project to remove the train station from the city center and put an end to this congestion. We made a presentation to our minister about our project. They stated that they would fully support this project, which was prepared in a reasonable and logical manner. Good luck for our project city. 2012 will be Sakarya's year. " said.

Stating that they will take the first step for the urban rail system after the station has moved to the new terminal, Toçoğlu said: “We have started our work for the implementation of this project without losing any time. After moving the train station to the new terminal, we will implement the first phase of our urban rail system project in order to enable our citizens to reach the new terminal from the city center. Then, we will work to ensure that our urban rail system project serves in different lines. Hopefully, as a result of our work, we will realize this prestige project, which is of great importance for Sakarya, and move the train station to the new terminal. "
