Saudi Arabian Minister of Transport, Jabara Al Seraisry, awarded the tender for the construction and operation of the high-speed train line between the cities of Mecca and Medina. kazanHe said that an agreement was signed with the Spanish consortium at international standards.
Consortium consisting of 12 Spanish companies and 2 Saudi companies, with 6 billion 736 million Euros. kazanWithin the scope of the tender, it will reduce the 450-kilometer Mecca-Medina road to 2,5 hours by high-speed train. It is envisaged to carry 160 thousand passengers a day from the line connecting Mecca and Medina, during periods of increased religious activities.
The Spaniards, who will build the high-speed train line on the Mecca-Medina line, will supply 300 high-speed trains running at a speed of 35 per hour.
