The consortium, consisting of two Spanish companies and two Saudi companies, will reduce the 6-kilometer Mecca - Medina road to 736 hours by high-speed train, within the scope of the tender won with 450 billion 2,5 million euros. According to the information given in the Spanish news agency EFE, it was stated that the line connecting the two holy cities of Saudi Arabia is expected to carry 160 passengers a day during religiously special times.

It has been reported that Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia – Margallo and Minister of Public Works Ana Pastor also attended the signing ceremony today due to the Spanish consortium winning the tender, which was opened on October 1, 2006 and concluded on October 26, 2011 after a long period.

In his speech, Minister of Public Works Pastor said that "it is very important for Spanish companies to take part in international projects, especially in this period of difficult economic times."

The Spaniards, who will build the high-speed train line on the Mecca-Medina line, will supply 300 high-speed trains running at 35 km / h and 12 will operate and maintain this line throughout the year.
