Pointer for the 3rd bridge favors the private sector

In the North Marmara Motorway Project, which also includes the construction of the 3rd bridge to the Bosphorus, the needle moves towards the "Build-Operate-Transfer" (BOT) model. After the meeting held at the General Directorate of Highways on Friday, January 20, 2012, it was learned that there was consensus on the construction of the new bridge by the private sector.

THE END DECISION

At the meeting chaired by Minister Binali Yıldırım, the idea of putting the tender roads on both sides of the bridge together with the bridge was put forward. The bridge's 'Private sector or equity?' Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will make the final decision on what to do. The fate of the 3rd bridge is expected to be clarified at the Council of Ministers meeting today. Ministry sources also confirmed that the BOT model came to the fore, saying, “We worked to make it by the private sector. Our Prime Minister will make the decision. We can get out of the tender right after the Prime Minister's decision. ” It turned out that two important demands of the private sector were effective in turning the needle into a BOT model on the third bridge. In addition to the time extension, the companies want to tender 3-60 km connection roads together with the bridge and then make a tender for the highway. In this way, it is stated that it will be easier to find 70-5 billion dollars in the 2 billion dollar project.
