With the opening of Ankara - Konya High Speed Train Line, eyes were turned to other high-speed train projects. By 2023, 29 cities will be connected by high-speed train. In addition to the Ankara-Istanbul, Ankara-Konya and Ankara-Sivas lines, which were put into service and under construction, the construction of the 5 thousand 731 kilometer high-speed train line will begin. In 2023, the total length of high-speed train line in Turkey will reach 10 thousand kilometers. The distance between Edirne and Kars, which lasts about 1.5 days, will also decrease to 1/4 1 and it will be possible to travel from one end of Turkey to the other in 8 hours.
The Ankara-Istanbul Fast Train Project, which is still under construction, will be completed in 2013, and the construction of the Ankara-Sivas line will be completed in 2015. TCDD aims to increase the average speed of the train to 5 kilometers by making a conventional line of 160 thousand kilometers alongside the high speed train lines.
COST 45 BILLION DOLLAR
The total cost of the high-speed train lines planned by the Ministry of Transport until 2023 is $ 45 billion. Approximately $ 30 billion of this amount will be realized with Chinese credit. The rest will be financed by the European Investment Bank and the Islamic Development Bank.
