Commemoration Ceremony for Climbers

A memorial ceremony was held in Trabzon for 10 mountaineers who lost their lives as a result of an avalanche in January last year on Zigana Mountain in the Torul district of Gümaşhane.

Turkey commemoration march was organized by the Mountaineering Federation; avalanche relatives of the climbers who lost their lives in the disaster, Turkey Mountaineering Federation President Alaattin Karaca Trabzon Tennis Mountaineering Ski Specialization Club (possible standard) President Melih Tankutay, Trabzon Youth and Sports Provincial Director Sharif with free 36 provinces 136 climbers attended.

Moving in front of the Trabzon Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate building, the crowd walked up to the Atatürk Area, accompanied by a banner saying "You are in our hearts", laid a wreath at the Atatürk Monument and stood in silence. While Trabzon Mayor Orhan Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu was also present at the ceremony in front of the Atatürk Monument, the crowd then performed the Turkish National Anthem with the band of Trabzon Municipality.

Turkey Mountaineering Federation President gave a speech here Khan, said the federation Zigana'da to commemorate one of the climbers who lost their lives this year they decided to do educational activities on Mount Zigana, "Our pain is very great. A year has passed and we understand very well the angle taken by his relatives. Our mountaineers from 36 provinces came here to commemorate our mountaineers. I thank them very much ”.

Karaca, noting that their duty is not to make those who serve this country forget, “These friends were really serving Trabzon and our country. They were trying to introduce Trabzon's mountain, stone, lake and oba. Otherwise, none of them needed anything else, ”he said.
The event, which was also attended by Trabzon Mayor Orhan Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu, ended with mountaineers taking a souvenir photo in front of the monument.

After the ceremony, Trabzon Mayor Orhan Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu President of the Mountaineering Federation of Turkey Alaattin Karaca had agreed to his office. Mayor Gümrükçüoğlu expressed his sorrow for the mountaineers who lost their lives due to the avalanche disaster.

25 TEDAK members, who took a walk on the Zigana Mountain in Torul district of Gümüşhane on January 17 last year, were under an avalanche. 10 people died in the incident.
