Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement of the Ministry of Commerce, which was later carried out jointly with the police units, tons of cocaine mixed products were seized in 6 containers at Istanbul Ambarlı Port.

In line with the information obtained from international sources by the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement of the Ministry of Commerce, the 2 containers deemed suspicious as a result of the container follow-up procedures carried out by the Istanbul Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate at Ambarlı Port were opened in line with the instructions received from the judicial authorities. The samples taken from the goods in the containers were sent to the Criminal Laboratory of the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement. As a result of the analysis of the samples, it was determined that there was a cocaine mixture in the fertilizer type article.

Upon this, the research was deepened and it was determined by the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement that 4 more containers carrying the same type of goods would come to the port. When the 4 monitored containers arrived at Ambarlı Port, similar procedures were carried out for these 4 containers. It was determined by the Criminal Laboratory report of the General Directorate of Customs Enforcement that the cocaine mixture was also contained in the said containers.

As a result of the work carried out, the button was pressed for the operation and at the first stage, the person named YSG was detained by the Istanbul Customs Guard, Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate. As a result of the first examinations made in the Istanbul Regional Criminal Police Laboratory on the samples taken, it was determined that cocaine was mixed into the legal burden. Criminal investigations continue on the samples taken.

As a result of the operations carried out, 14 suspects out of 5 persons who were referred to the prosecutor's office by the Istanbul Police Department Anti-Narcotic Crimes Branch were released by the prosecutor's office, and 1 suspect by the court with the condition of judicial control. With the arrest of 8 suspects, including a British citizen, at the management level of the crime organization, the number of detainees in joint operations carried out by the Police and Customs Enforcement units reached 9.
